 Alat Uji Ketebalan (Thickness Gauge)

adalah sebuah perangkat yang digunakan untuk mengukur seberapa tebalkah suatu benda/material.

Hal ini menyangkut kemudahan penggunaan dan menampilkan pengukuran langsung. Selain mengukur ketebalan material beberapa alat uji ketebalan lain memiliki fungi dan mampu mengukur hanya ketebalan lapisannya saja sehingga data yang tampil hanya informasi ketebalan lapisan.

Kemudahan menggunakan alat uji ketebalan ini memberikan durability dan efektifitas karena beberapa tipe bersifat portable sehingga memberikan efisiensi waktu dan praktis dalam mengaplikasikannya.

Beberapa metode penggunaan pengukuran ketebalan dalam aplikasinya terdapat beberapa cara diantaranya yaitu, dengan alat uji portable tadi yang hanya meletakan perangkatnya ke media uji maka data yang diinginkan dapat tampil, namun ada juga yang menggunakan dengan alat pendeteksi suara atau ultrasonic.

Pada  Alat Uji Ketebalan yang menggunakan menggunakan metode pendeteksi suara atau ultrasonic. dimana  Alat ini terdiri dari transmitter, receiver gelombang ultrasonik dan up counter Transmitter dilengkapi dengan trasnduser ultrasonik pemancar khusus medium padat dan receiver sama dengan tranduser.

Gelombang ultrasonik yang dupancarkan rangkaian transmitter menembus permukaan benda  dan dipantulkan kembali ke rangkaian receiver. Waktu tempuh menjalani gelombang ini diukur dengan menggunakan up-counter  menggunakan metoda time of flight.

 


Measurement principle for ultrasonic thickness gauges
The digital ultrasonic thickness gauges determine the thickness of a part or structure accurately calculating the time required by a small ultrasonic pulse generated by a transducer (probe) to pass through the thickness of the material, be reflected from the opposite surface and return to the transducer.
The time taken by the impulse to pass through the material and back is divided by two and multiplied by the speed of ultrasound in the specific material.
The result is determined by the formula:
H = (v x t) / 2
where:
H = thickness of the material measured
v = velocity of propagation of ultrasound in the material specification
t = time spent by the pulse through the material (go and return)
